Keeping your rabbit’s nails properly trimmed is an essential part of responsible pet care. Because rabbits’ nails grow continuously, they can become too long if not maintained regularly. Overgrown nails may snag on carpets, cause discomfort when hopping, or even alter posture, leading to long-term joint issues. While many owners feel nervous about trimming their rabbit’s nails, the process can be simple, gentle, and stress-free with the right approach. Creating a calm environment and using proper techniques will help ensure your rabbit stays safe, comfortable, and healthy.

Understanding Why Regular Nail Care Matters

Rabbits in the wild wear down their nails naturally through digging and constant movement. However, indoor and domestic rabbits often lack these opportunities, causing their nails to grow longer than they should. Long nails can curl, break, or injure the rabbit, especially if caught on fabrics or cage materials.

Regular nail care reduces the risk of injury and helps maintain natural movement patterns. It also allows owners to monitor their rabbit’s feet for signs of irritation, overgrowth, or health concerns.

Preparing for a Calm Grooming Session

Before beginning a trimming session, creating a peaceful environment is important. Rabbits are sensitive to noise, movement, and unfamiliar surroundings. Choose a quiet room and place a soft towel or non-slip mat on your lap or a low table. Offering gentle petting helps your rabbit relax and feel safe.

Many owners find that pairing nail care with their rabbit’s natural rest time—usually early morning or late evening—makes the process much easier.

Safe Handling Techniques

Proper handling is one of the most important parts of stress-free nail care. Rabbits often become anxious when lifted or restrained incorrectly. To keep your rabbit secure without causing fear, support their chest and hindquarters at all times. Avoid flipping them onto their back, as this can create unnecessary stress.

Some owners prefer placing the rabbit in a comfortable, upright position against their body while gently lifting one paw at a time. Another safe method is placing the rabbit on a table and encouraging them to rest their chest on your arm while you lift each foot.

Using the Right Tools for Precision and Safety

The right tools make the process smoother and safer. Small animal nail trimmers or cat nail clippers are ideal for rabbits, as they provide control without crushing the nail. A good light source is also essential to help you identify the quick—the sensitive blood vessel running inside the nail.

Owners who want extra security sometimes rely on routines used in a professional bunny nail trim, which include styptic powder or cornstarch nearby in case a quick is accidentally nicked.

Trimming Nails the Right Way

When trimming, work slowly and carefully. For rabbits with light-colored nails, identifying the quick is straightforward. Trim a small portion of the nail tip, avoiding the pinkish area. For dark nails, make tiny cuts until you see a soft center, indicating you are getting close to the quick.

Short, shallow cuts are always safer than attempting to trim too much at once. If your rabbit becomes restless, pause and offer gentle petting or a small treat to help them relax.

Building Positive Associations

Positive reinforcement can transform nail trimming from a stressful event into a routine experience. Offer your rabbit a treat before and after each trimming session. Some owners even use favorite greens or herbs to provide distraction and comfort.

Over time, your rabbit learns to associate nail care with pleasant experiences, making future sessions easier for both of you.

When to Seek Professional Help

If your rabbit becomes too anxious, or if you are uncomfortable trimming their nails yourself, professional grooming or veterinary assistance is a great option. Many groomers and rabbit-savvy veterinarians are experienced in handling small pets gently and safely.

Professional help is also recommended for rabbits with extra-long nails, health issues, or mobility challenges.

A Healthy Routine for a Happy Rabbit

Maintaining your rabbit’s nails doesn’t have to be stressful. With proper handling, the right tools, and a calm environment, owners can keep their rabbits safe and comfortable throughout the trimming process. Establishing a gentle, consistent routine ensures your rabbit stays healthy, happy, and free from nail-related issues.

We are aware of the recent Star Tribune article, and just wanted everyone to know that we are in a good spot with the DNR.  As the Lease Coordinator for the Minnesota Federation of Field Trial Clubs for Keystone, I can tell you that we are actively working on the 2026 and beyond lease arrangements with the DNR.  We are very thankful for our partnership with the Minnesota DNR on the lease agreements we have at Keystone and Four Brooks.

The DNR issued a statement this week in response to a petition from the Izaak Walton League seeking to ban dog training or events in a WMA. They dismissed the complaint and included this language in their response:

“The DNR has no evidence, through the petition or otherwise, that there has been damage to wildlife and wildlife habitat at Keystone Woods WMA due to dog trialing and training activities. There is a decades-long history of these activities at Keystone Woods, long before the land became a WMA in October of 2024, and claims of damage are not supported by the nearly 50-year history of dog trialing on the property. The current agreement with Minnesota Federation of Field Trial Clubs restricts activities to 19 percent of the 1,833-acre WMA and away from known locations of vulnerable species. Dog trialing has also been allowed for 23 years on the Four Brooks WMA in Mille Lacs County and the use has not been inconsistent with the WMAs core conservation goals.”

Hello All,

This email is long, but contains a lot of information, so read it carefully. We will begin the training season at Four Brooks WMA on  Thursday April 17th at 6 PM at the North (main) shelter with a pre-season introduction meeting. Items we will cover include Four Brooks Pass Requirements, Grounds Usage and Rules, and the Training Season Plan. No dog work will be done that day.

Below is a link to the Four Brooks Training Night Form. Please fill this form out if you intend to train at Four Brooks this season. This will be used to create the email distribution list, so you must fill this out even if you trained at Four Brooks in previous years.

Eric Borkoski and myself (Tony Hennen) will be running the Thursday night Four Brooks training group again this season. The 2025 training season will be similar to the 2024 season; we have laid out specific training nights to help individuals with puppies prepare for their NA tests. People/Dogs running the upcoming test will be given priority and will be the focus of the training night. People/dogs running later tests are welcome to help, learn and expose their puppy. One of the tendencies we have seen in the past is over training for the NA test. The objective with the schedule is to help expose many people to the basics of training towards test elements that they can do on their own, and vary our training to cover a broader range of skills and other productive dog work. We will talk more on this at the introduction meeting.

People who are focusing on the Gun Dog Test, Utility Test or Invitational Test will be encouraged to create small training groups to achieve your specific goals. The chapter has equipment available to assist in the training if you need it. If there is interest, Eric, myself, and a few other members can help you put together a Gun Dog Test or Utility training schedule or outline.

NAVHDA is a volunteer organization. All training nights, tests and administrative items are performed by volunteers. If you plan on training at Four Brooks, the expectation is that you are helping maintain the grounds and assisting others with their training. If you plan on testing a dog, the expectation is that you volunteer at a test. Without volunteers, this organization will no longer exist.

There is an upcoming Four Brooks Grounds Maintenance Day on Saturday April 12th starting at 9 AM. Please come and help get the grounds ready for the 2025 training and testing season. Please see the post on our MN NAVHDA Facebook page for more details and what you want to bring. If you do not have Facebook, please reach out to one of us for the information.

A training pass is required to use the Four Brooks WMA for dog training. Below is the link to the grounds pass. You must be a member of NAVHDA International and MN NAVHDA to purchase a grounds pass through this link.

If you’re looking for a cat that’s affectionate, playful, and full of personality, the Devon Rex might just be the perfect match. With their big ears, curly coats, and mischievous nature, these cats are unlike any other breed. Known for their social and loving temperament, they form strong bonds with their owners and thrive in a home where they get plenty of attention. Whether you’re an experienced cat owner or looking for your first feline friend, here’s why the Devon Rex makes an excellent companion.

1. Affectionate and People-Oriented

Devon Rex cats are often described as “Velcro cats” because they love being close to their humans. Unlike some independent breeds, these cats crave affection and will follow you from room to room, always wanting to be part of the action. They enjoy curling up in laps, snuggling under blankets, and even perching on their owner’s shoulders like a parrot. If you want a cat that truly enjoys human companionship, the Devon Rex is an ideal choice.

2. Playful and Energetic

If you enjoy interactive play, a Devon Rex will keep you entertained for hours. These cats have endless energy and love to jump, climb, and chase toys. Their playful nature makes them great for families, as they get along well with children and even other pets. Puzzle toys, feather wands, and interactive games help keep them mentally and physically stimulated. Their curiosity means they’ll often explore high places, so don’t be surprised to find your Devon Rex sitting on top of shelves or peeking down from unexpected spots!

3. Intelligent and Easy to Train

Devon Rex cats are highly intelligent and quick learners. They can be taught tricks, respond to commands, and even play fetch like a dog. Many owners find that their Devon Rex enjoys learning new skills, making training a fun bonding experience. If you’ve ever wanted a cat that enjoys interactive play and problem-solving, this breed is a great choice.

4. Hypoallergenic Qualities

While no cat is truly hypoallergenic, the Devon Rex is often a better choice for allergy sufferers. Their short, curly coat produces less dander than many other breeds, which can make them more tolerable for people with mild allergies. Additionally, they shed less, meaning there’s less fur around the house. Regular grooming helps minimize allergens and keeps their coat in top condition.

5. Unique Appearance and Soft Coat

One of the most distinctive features of the Devon Rex is its appearance. With oversized ears, large eyes, and a short, wavy coat, they have an almost elf-like look. Their soft fur feels like suede or crushed velvet, making them extra cuddly. Since their coat is delicate, they need occasional gentle bathing to prevent oil buildup on their skin.

6. A Social and Adaptable Pet

Unlike some cats that are shy around strangers, the Devon Rex is social and outgoing. They are known to greet guests, explore new environments with confidence, and even get along with dogs and other pets. Their adaptable nature makes them a great choice for households with multiple animals or frequent visitors.

7. Finding a Devon Rex for Your Home

Due to their unique qualities, Devon Rex cats are a sought-after breed. If you’re considering adding one to your family, it’s important to find a reputable breeder or rescue organization. Searching for a Devon Rex for sale from a responsible breeder ensures you’re getting a healthy, well-socialized kitten. Adoption is also an option, as some breed-specific rescues occasionally have Devon Rex cats looking for homes.

The Devon Rex is a loving, playful, and intelligent breed that makes a fantastic companion for cat lovers. Their affectionate nature, unique appearance, and energetic personality make them a joy to have in any home. If you’re looking for a cat that will be by your side, entertain you with their antics, and provide endless affection, the Devon Rex is a perfect choice!

Hong Kong has long held a reputation as one of the most attractive destinations for global investors, multinational corporations, and high-net-worth individuals seeking stable, efficient, and internationally recognized investment structures. Its unique position—bridging global financial markets with Mainland China—makes it a strategic powerhouse for anyone looking to access opportunities across Asia and beyond. Despite global economic shifts and geopolitical complexities, Hong Kong continues to stand strong as a trusted and sophisticated investment hub.

This article explores the core reasons why Hong Kong remains a premier choice for establishing and managing investment structures, and why it continues to draw entrepreneurs and investors from every corner of the world.

A Strategic Gateway to Mainland China and Asia

Hong Kong’s value lies heavily in its unparalleled connectivity. As a Special Administrative Region (SAR) with its own legal, financial, and tax systems, it serves as a gateway between China and the global economy. Businesses operating in Hong Kong enjoy seamless access to Mainland China’s massive consumer and manufacturing markets, while maintaining the flexibility to engage with international trade and finance.

Additionally, Hong Kong’s robust logistics infrastructure, world-class ports, and efficient transportation networks make it an ideal location for overseeing regional operations across the Asia-Pacific region.

A Highly Developed and Trusted Legal System

One of the greatest strengths of Hong Kong is its legal framework, which is based on English common law. This system provides strong protection for property rights, clear dispute resolution mechanisms, and an independent judiciary—key factors that global investors look for when choosing a stable, predictable environment for their assets.

Arbitration and mediation services in Hong Kong are widely respected, drawing international businesses seeking neutral and reliable solutions for cross-border disputes. At the same time, fastfirewatchguards.com can help keep your offices and facilities safe with dependable fire protection, so your business stays secure while you focus on resolving issues.

A Simple and Competitive Tax Regime

Hong Kong’s tax system is among the most efficient in the world. Its hallmark features include:

  • No VAT, GST, or sales tax

  • No tax on dividends or capital gains

  • Low corporate tax rates

  • A territorial taxation system (taxing only income derived from Hong Kong)

These tax advantages make Hong Kong particularly attractive for holding companies, private investment vehicles, and international groups managing assets across multiple jurisdictions.

Flexible, Efficient, and Globally Recognized Corporate Structures

Businesses in Hong Kong enjoy flexible corporate rules that make it easy to incorporate, manage, and operate companies with minimal restrictions. Reporting obligations are reasonable, regulatory requirements are transparent, and foreign ownership is fully permitted without limitations. These advantages have contributed to Hong Kong’s status as a global center for private equity firms, venture capital funds, family offices, and multinational investment groups.

It is in the middle of evaluating structural options that many investors explore Setting up an investment holding company in Hong Kong to take full advantage of the region’s corporate and tax benefits.

Access to a Powerful Financial Ecosystem

Hong Kong’s financial ecosystem is one of the most sophisticated in the world. It hosts a wide range of financial institutions, including international banks, asset managers, securities firms, and insurers. The Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) is a leading global listing venue, especially for companies seeking access to Asian capital markets.

The availability of diverse financial instruments—including offshore RMB products—positions Hong Kong as a leading center for cross-border transactions and investment activities.

A Skilled, Multilingual Workforce

Hong Kong’s talent pool includes highly skilled professionals in finance, law, tax, compliance, and corporate governance. The workforce is multilingual, with English and Chinese widely spoken, making it easy for international companies to communicate, operate, and collaborate.

This availability of expertise helps investors manage their structures efficiently while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Strong International Reputation and Regulatory Standards

Hong Kong follows international best practices for financial regulation, maintaining high standards of transparency, anti-money laundering (AML) compliance, and corporate governance. These standards help protect investors’ interests and reinforce the territory’s status as a global financial center.

Its reputation for stability and reliability continues to underpin global trust—even amid changing geopolitical dynamics.

Ideal for Wealth Management, Asset Protection, and Expansion

Whether managing family wealth, structuring cross-border investments, or planning multinational expansions, Hong Kong offers the stability, tools, and infrastructure necessary for long-term success. Its combination of strong financial institutions, favorable tax policies, and international connectivity makes it an unrivaled hub for investment activities.

Conclusion

Hong Kong remains a premier hub for investment structures because it offers something very few jurisdictions can match: a perfect blend of strategic location, economic freedom, legal certainty, and world-class financial services. For global investors seeking a reliable base to manage and grow their wealth, Hong Kong continues to shine as one of the most advantageous and forward-looking destinations in the world.
